Thank you for having me here as well! Where do I even start, well, ever since I was a child I've been fascinated by Pokémon and the bond between trainers and their partners. This fascination led to me becoming a gym leader beause it felt like the perfect way to share that passion and help aspiring trainers grow.



Oh that's a great thought, helping others. Can you walk us through your journey to becoming a gym leader?



It's been quite a journey, let me be honest! I started as a young trainer, battling my way through various Leagues and Competitions, wanting to be the best of the best. Along the way, I learned a lot about different Pokémon types, battling strategies, and the importance of teamwork, how much a bond between you and your Pokémon mattered, etc. It took some years of dedication and hard work, but I was honored to be offered the position of gym leader here in Driftveil City.



Ohhh but hard work does pay off in the end right?! What would you say is your training philosophy when it comes to raising and battling Pokémon?



My philosophy revolves around building strong bonds with Pokémon and helping them reach their full potential. I believe in training with kindness and respect, nurturing each Pokémon's unique strengths and abilities. In battles, I emphasise strategy and adaptability, always striving to bring out the best in my team.



That's fantastic to hear and really good to know that being kind is the way to go with Pokémon! Finally, what advice would you give to aspiring Pokémon trainers?



My advice would be to never stop learning and never underestimate the power of teamwork. Train hard, but always remember to have fun and cherish the bonds you form with your Pokémon. And never be afraid to think outside the box and try new strategies – that's often where the most exciting battles and discoveries happen!

The Gym Leaders, also called Pokémon Leaders or just Leaders in some cases, are the highest-ranking member of a Pokémon Gym. Their main job is to test Trainers and their Pokémon so that they are strong and resourceful enough to take the Pokémon League challenge. If a Trainer defeats a Gym Leader in battle, then the Trainer earns that Gym's Badge. Gym Leaders are also responsible for overseeing how their respective Gyms are run and maintained.

It is not that clear how Gym Leaders attain their position, but it appears that it varies for each Gym. Some of them founded their Gyms and are self-appointed. Others, such as Whitney, are chosen by the other members of the region's Pokémon League. A few appear to be passed on through families: Janine, Falkner, and Flannery all took over their respective Gyms from a close family member.
