World of Pokemon
Cooking Chronicles Ft. Staryu

Burrito by Staryu
pic I never knew that even Pokémon could be fond of cooking, but Emanuel proved me wrong. He came up to me saying that his little buddy Staryu loved cooking and their most favourite bonding time was spent in the kitchern rather than the battlefield. My mind was blown and I had to check out little Yesers cooking skills myself and so here we are, in the kitchen with Yesers making the amazing Burritos! Follow along and see if this is something you would make at home!

After a little meltdown from the Staryu, who is very particular about the ingredients, we finally had everything we needed to start cooking, except, Yesers thought that it was the perfect time to nap, and so that's exactly what he did, he went to take a nap. Emanuel and I ended up talking about his Staryu, which I shall detail later, but it was a rather interesting conversation, get it, cause I interview others in Interesting Conversations.

Ingredients

Rice
Black Beans
Fajita Veggies: bell peppers, poblano pepper, and red onion
Spices: taco seasoning, ground cumin, jalapeño and garlic
Adobo Sauce
Avocado: 1/2 ripe avocado
Cilantro: 1 whole bunch
Lime: zest and juice
Tortillas

The Staryu returned to the land of the awake and then we were off to makiing the world's best burritos apparently. Yesers was quite particular about what was done in the kitchen but thankfully we were able to get the cooking done without anymore meltdowns from him.

Step 1: Avocado Cream Sauce
Add avocado, cilantro, jalapeño, garlic, lime juice, and sour cream to a blender and blend the mixture, you may stop to scrap down the sides as needed, until it is mostly smooth and then set it aside.

Step 2: Cilantro Lime Rice
Combine dry rice with 2 cups of water and ½ tsp. salt in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil before reducing heat to medium-low. Cover the pan and gently let it simmer for 18 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender.
Remove from heat and stir in 3 tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro, ½ tsp. lime zest, and 1 Tbsp. fresh lime juice. Cover it and set it aside as you prepare the rest.

Staryu the Chef
picThe Staryu suddenly got the zoomies and started running around the kitchen with me and Emanuel chasing him around to get him to calm down and continue with the cooking, but it was easier said than done. Yesers quite literally slipped out of our hands and we got an amazing work out running behind him. Only one problem with that, I don't work out. The little Pokémon got me to do something I never do, and due to that I'm still sore. I hate running.

Step 3: Fajita Veggies
Heat 2 Tbsp. oil in a large skillet over a medium-high flame. Once it is hot, add bell peppers, poblano pepper, and red onion and cook for 7 to 9 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it gets tender. Stir in 1 Tbsp. taco seasoning and remove from heat.

Step 4: Black Beans
Drain and lightly rinse black beans and shake off the excess water and transfer them to a bowl. Stir in adobo sauce, ground cumin, and a pinch of salt and then cover with a damp paper towel and microwave for 2 minutes, stopping at 1 minute to stir thoroughly.

Step 5: Roll the Burrito
When all of your filling ingredients are prepared and assembled, it's time to get rolling!
Working with one burrito at a time, spread 2 Tbsp. of avocado cream sauce in a strip across the bottom third of the tortilla, leaving a 1-inch edge on the left and right sides so the fillings don't spill out when you roll it.
Top with a heaping ⅓ cup (or scant ½ cup) rice, ⅓ cup black beans, and a heaping ⅓ cup fajita veggies. If you're adding cheese, sprinkle shredded cheese overtop.
Fold the short left and right edges in towards the filling. Keeping the sides folded, fold the bottom of the tortilla (closest to you) up and over the filling. Tightly roll away from you until the entire burrito is secure.
If you'd like to crisp the outside of the burrito, heat in a lightly greased skillet over medium-high heat for 2 minutes per side.

Staryu Facts
pfp Staryu is a golden-brown, echinoderm Pokémon with five appendages and these appendages surround an exterior organ called the core. The core resembles a golden metal casing with a red gem in the center, which is held in place by a golden ring looped around Staryu's lower left point. If Staryu's appendages are lost or eaten by predators like Lumineon, it is unharmed and can grow them back with ease provided the core is still intact. Staryu's core glows its brightest after the sun has gone down, and many Staryu will float from the seafloor to the surface and align themselves with stars of the night sky as their core flickers, displaying a connection with the celestial bodies of space.

After the cooking, it was also time to taste test the food cooked by Staryu, and my god was it amazing. Holy Arceus, the burrito was the best thing I'd ever had, but the meal was missing something. Sadly it was missing soup as a side dish. Let's see, maybe sometime in the future I'll be able to find another Pokémon whose fond of cooking and I'd be able to make some soup with them.
